About Solva

Solva is building AI-native risk infrastructure for insurance, an $8 trillion industry. We're backed by Y Combinator, SV Angel and angel investors, including Paul Graham, that have funded companies such as OpenAI, Google, Stripe, Anthropic, Databricks and GitHub. We have an advisory board of experienced insurance executives and founders.

Our team was previously part of building Europe's fastest growing InsurTech and founded a licensed EU bank processing payments of €1B/yr+. Now we are taking on one of the world's largest industries and rebuilding it from the ground up with AI.

Solva is a Y Combinator S25 company and has emerged as one of the fastest growing and best-funded startups.

About the role

As an AI Engineer Intern you'll build the AI systems that run insurance at Solva, from underwriting and pricing to policy servicing and claims. You'll work alongside our founding engineers, ship real code to production from your first week and own projects end to end.

This is not a side-project internship. The work you do will be used every day, and the best interns grow into full-time roles.

What you'll do

  • Build and ship LLM-powered agents and tools that automate core insurance workflows, from reading submissions to issuing policies
  • Design evaluations that measure accuracy and reliability, and iterate until results hold up in production
  • Work across our stack (Python, Go, TypeScript, Postgres, GCP/AWS)
  • Turn messy, real-world documents and data into clean, structured pipelines
  • Work directly with the founders and the people who use what you build

What we're looking for

  • Currently studying or recently graduated in computer science, engineering, math or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python or TypeScript
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs (personal projects count)
  • Curious, fast learning and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Gold star if you've shipped something people actually use
